Week 10.25

Posted on November 13, 2025 by Commish

Okay, so it seems to me that the SPFL is shaping up to be a four team race for the big kahuna … with a couple of potential spoilers meandering around the standings, such as Heath’s Heroes, the Piranha Brothers, and, winners of two of their last three games — the Mighty Moops of Mayberry!!! LFG!!!

LOL.

In the Tommy Boy Division, Higgins and the Ladds hold down the top spot at the moment despite identical 7-3 marks with the Bright 1s. The Turf Turtles are two back with a 5-5 record and Greased Lightning have a healthy number of points, but a meager 4-6 record. Bringing up the rear are the Beasts and the injury-afflicted Ghost of Megatron with 3-7 records.

In the Matt Foley Division, Yesterday’s Corn and the Thunder Monkeys (8-2) are running away from the crowd, both in record and points scored. Three games back via a 5-5 tally is the aforementioned Heroes while the Piranha Brothers and the Bitter Midgets are both at 4-6. The Moops of Mayberry are only 2-8, but aren’t going quietly into the night — as Billy Bob Thornton aka Davy Crockett said at the conclusion of The Alamo, “I’m a screamer!”

Should the playoffs begin today, the Corn and the Ladds would enjoy a first round bye, while the Monkeys would be hosting the Piranha Brothers and the Bright 1s would face off with Heath’s Heroes. As it stands now, Greased Lightning is a mere 18 points out of a wild card, while the Beasts and the Turtles are about 45 points back.

Moops 151 — Turtles 134: The Moops put up some decent points this week, led by Jaxson Dart (27) and Drake London (24), while the Turf Turtles relied on the Super Charger Defense (25) and Josh Jacobs in his cheesehead cleats’ 22 points.

Ladds 144 — Brothers 104: Higgins is mighty proud of his ladds, but particularly Jahmyr Gibbs (41). The Brothers were led by nifty waiver wire pickup Parker Washington (27) and Cmac (18) but were undone by zeroes posted by star wideouts, DJ Moore and the once again injured Garrett Wilson.

Beasts 139 — Midgets 89: The Junior Moops put a beatdown on the wee ones, led by Jared Goff (24) and Emeka Egbuka (23). The Midgets had very little to build on, Davante Adams (19), Ashton Jeanty (17), and were waylaid by Brock Bowers (3) coming down off last week’s sugar high and an uncharacteristic 13 points from Jalen Hurts.

Megatron 112 — Heroes 111: Holy cow, what a squeaker we had here! When your starting lineup includes a Michael Carter at RB, a Kyle Pitts in a Flex position, and Rashod Bateman at wideout, but you still pick up the W … kudos. Trade aquisition Jameson Williams (23) led the Ghost, while the Heroes dealt with a couple of ill timed bye weeks and had to count on the Seattle D (26) and Breece Hall (23) for the bulk of their scoring.

Corn 134 — Lightning 121: This one was like a snowy, Big Ten, slobberknocker of two tough teams, with the Corn pulling out the win thanks to that Orange Crush D’s 27 points (for heaven’s sakes, keep those uniforms full time!!!) and Kyren Williams 23. The Greasy ones were thankful Vrabel finally released the beast known as TreVeyon Henderson (33). Did y’all see him pause on his long TD run to check with the sideline on whether the coaches wanted him to score or not? Dang. That is discipline and speed.

Monkeys 190 — Bright 1s 163: This one was more like a late Saturday night, BYU and Hawaii fireworks show from 20+ years ago. When you can put 190 SPFL points and your starting QB is Marcus freakin’ Mariota, geez. Take it easy on the rest of us, Gar! Jonathan Taylor (54) kept up his MVP campaign and Trey McBride added 27. The Bright 1s would have beat every other team in the league except the one on the other sideline of this game, led by Devon Achane (44) and once again, JSN (22).

This one made me chuckle out loud:

Next Week

  • Moops/Midgets
  • Ladds/Megatron
  • Beasts/1s
  • Lightning/Turtles
  • Heroes/Monkeys
  • Brothers/Corn

Closing Thoughts:

Jameis Winston starting for the Giants at QB this week. Not good for us Jaxson Dart owners, but thank you football gods. Jameis is a treasure…

I like the Cowboys acquisition of Quinnen Williams. They were ridiculed b/c people assumed they were trying to make a wild card run this season. To me, this is about next year. Two first round picks, a monster DL on the nose, and a couple more years of Dak in his prime. Minus the Old Man in the Box, I kinda feel okay about the future. Pass me that Kool Aid…

Thanks to the World Series, I’m reading more Hot Stove articles on the MLB free agent season than I have in years. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe the Blue Jays can make another run next year. Still thirsty, give me a little more of that Kool Aid…

I think the trade deadline in the SPFL is this week. We’ve had a couple more than some years, but still fairly quiet. I’ve got some rule tweaks percolating in my mind for next year. Stay tuned.

Don’t forget we’ll be looking for a new owner to join us next year. Let me know if you have any prospects.

Enjoy the weekend, there are some sweet NFL games on the telly this week. DEN/KC, SEA/LAR, TB/BUF, DET/PHI. Nice.

Anyone else suffering with the YoutubeTV/ESPN dispute? I had to pony up $100 and sign up for FUBO TV just to watch Monday Night Football. They better get this settled before I have to shell out for another month.
