Week 11.25

Posted on November 20, 2025 by Commish

I’ve gotta jump right into the SPFL this week because this year is shaping up to be a very unique season. With three games left in the regular season, we SEEM to have two team races in each division for that precious week one bye in the playoffs, which also SEEMS to have the two runner up wild cards ALMOST secured, meaning those last two total points wild card berths are a free for all.

Now, nothing is set in stone yet. For example, Heath’s Heroes are two games back of the Thunder Monkeys in the Matt Foley Division, and the Heroes are coming off a huge win over the Monkeys, meaning they have a 2-0 mark for the season over the Monkeys. Still, they are two games back with three to go.

So, in a nutshell, Yesterday’s Corn have had that ever elusive asterisk placed next to their team name in the standings, meaning they have clinched a playoff berth. At 9-2, they also hold a one game lead over the Monkeys, but guess who plays this weekend??? I love it. That’s fun stuff, I don’t care who you are. Over in the Tommy Boy Division, Higgins and the Ladds and the Bright 1s are both 8-3 (and 1-1 head to head this season) and battling it out for that playoff bye, while Greased Lightning and the Turf Turtles (5-6) are three back with three to play.

In that total points wild card race, at the moment, Heath’s Heroes (1425) and Greased Lightning (1396) hold the advantage right now, but lurking just 22 points behind is the Piranha Brothers and 33 points back is the Beasts. At 71 points back, the Turtles are likely too far gone and the threesome of the Midgets, the Ghost, and the Moops are in a battle for the worst team of the season.

I see on the message board that an old SPFLer, who had some success along the way, may be interested in the taking over the Beasts franchise next season, which is music to my ears! And if my memory serves, he might just be another long suffering Cowboys fan!

My lord, I’m a sucker for these annual Army/Navy Game uniforms. That Army Declaration font is fabulous and that Navy helmet — God that would look good in my office!

Moops 108 — Midgets 83: The Moops, one of the league’s hottest teams, picked up their third win in four weeks, thanks to Ken Walker III (21) and Christian Watson (20), while the Midgets seem to be petering out, with Jalen Hurts (15) and Brock Bowers (14) looking very pedestrian.

Ladds 165 — Megatron 117: On the other hand, Higgins has his lads peaking at the right time, as they handled a spirited effort from Megatron, picking up a big win led by Sean Tucker (37) and Tet McMillan (33). The Ghost was led by Travis Kelce (24) and the Ravens D (22).

1‘s 147 — Beasts 135: Whew. The Bright 1s just escaped the upset minded Moops 2.0, relying on Bijan Robinson (32) rediscovering the end zone and Devon Achane (23) continuing his strong, consistent season. The Beasts were led by George Pickens (29) and George Kittle (24).

Lightning 143 — Turtles 99: The greasy ones are sliding into relevance thanks to Vrabel taking the governor off TreVeyon Henderson (34) and King Henry (22) still pounding the rock. The Turtles had Nico Collins (24) and the Fake Tush Pushin’ Mark Andrews (15.8).

She’s pretty and all, but … Bill? Blink twice if you need help.

Heroes 134 — Monkeys 113: The Heroes didn’t let an opportunity pass by, seizing upon Jonathan Taylor’s bye week, and picking up an impressive win over the Monkeys, led by James Cook (22) and Travis Etienne (21). The Monkeys still made it a game, thanks to Kenneth Gainwell (32) and, of course, Trey McBride (27), who supports keeping Jacoby Brissett at QB indefinitely in the desert.

If you’re not already, you should follow this lady on X. She puts out a weekly NFL recap video that is often hilarious.

Corn 134 — Brothers 103: And finally, the Corn picked up yet another W, thanks to a unicorn like game from Josh Allen (49 points on 3 TD runs and 3 TD passes!). The Brothers were led by the Dak and CMac Pack (25, and 36 points, respectively).

Next Week

  • Moops/Brothers
  • Ladds/Beasts
  • Midgets/Heroes
  • Megatron/Lightning
  • Turtles/1’s
  • **** Thunder Monkeys @ Yesterday’s Corn **** (Word on the street is that this may be the ManningCast this week).

Best of luck to those of you all still in it. Especially those facing us pesky little Goonie-like teams (“Goonies Never Die!”)
