Okay, folks, one last short blog post to pass along a few tidbits as we head off toward kickoff.
Just a couple of business items:
- We’ve received dues from 9 of 12 teams so far. I won’t call anyone out because (a) the season hasn’t even started yet and we are ahead of most seasons’ dues paying timeline; and (b) my perennial late bloomer, The Corn, has now paid ahead of the season for two straight years, so … that earns all the rest of you a grace period!
- Again, it’s $100 per team and can be paid via Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal. Venmo or Zelle preferred b/c PayPal is a money grubbing company that tries to claw their own few bucks into each transaction.
- The Yahoo Free Agent Budget for the season is $100 per team (rather than the $1000 I indicated in the opening blog post.) The other leagues I’m in use $1000, so I wrongly assumed Yahoo was the same. No worries, just wanted you to be aware.
- According to the Yahoo Draft Report Cards, we can go ahead and mail the Farley Trophy to either the Greased Lightning’s team offices or his progeny, the Oysters, while myself, the Heroes, Turtles, Midgets, Monkeys, and Megatron can go ahead and start offseason planning. Hmmmmm. I actually think the rest of us did okay. We shall see.
- Don’t forget the season kicks off tomorrow (Wednesday) night!! Weird, I know, but the NFL is good at milking dollars, so make sure you’ve got any Wednesday starters selected before kickoff tomorrow night. There’s also a Thursday game, then we transition to the usual Sunday/Monday schedule.
- Since I’ve not had any luck in rounding out the GroupMe league chat, I’m going to switch to a simple SPFL group text chain. If you’ve opted in to the GroupMe chat or I have your cell number, I’m going to add you to the list. I’m assuming maybe folks just didn’t want to use an app to chat and will be more open to a simple text. (?) If you don’t want to actively participate, you can exit or silence it on your phone. But I’m hoping it will become a lifeline to all of us in need of trades. Or maybe a little good natured trash talk.
Good luck everyone, I anticipate a really fun season this year!
