The season (whether you consider the NFL or the SPFL as primary is a personal choice) is creeping closer and I just wanted to check in with everyone to make sure all was well. As always, I heard from the usual handful of folks after my opening manifesto and then the dramatic Draft Order video (thank you!), but from the majority of you, it’s been crickets.

That’s okay, I’m gonna keep doing my thing and you all will certainly have an opportunity to become more engaged, should you so choose. I read on Football Guys that when it comes to your home/neighborhood fantasy league, “the league entry fee is just the cover charge for the group chat.” I’m going to try and get our group chat going this season, but for the SPFL, the entry fee is a cover charge to read my nonsense, I guess.

Speaking of that group chat, counting myself, we now have six of the twelve owners signed up. Let me know if you want to help us make it a majority so we can make fun of everyone else behind their backs! The group chat will be a prime spot to alert you to new blog posts, put players on the trading block, ask questions, or simply give your chief rival a friendly jab to the gut.
I will also take this opportunity to give out the first reminder that the league office is open to accepting your “cover charges” at any time. So far, I have exactly two owners that have already paid! Amazing and appreciated, thank you Amber and Demurris.
Don’t forget your keeper deadline is a week from tomorrow (Friday, August 28th). We have several already: the Ladds are hanging on to Drake Maye and Colston Loveland; as I mentioned in a previous post the Midgets are keeping Brock Bowers for the last time; the Lightning is rolling the dice and spending their first round pick on Chompy himself, Puka Nacua, as well as Trevor Lawrence in the 10th; the Bright 1s are keeping Cam Skattebo and Isaiah Likely; and ye old commish is clinging on to Tyler Warren and Skattebo’s crazy mate, Jaxson Dart. That’s only five teams, take a look at the lists I sent earlier and let me know if you want to use a potentially valuable tool called SPFL Keepers.

I guess that’s about it for now. Tomorrow Mrs. Commish and I will be traveling to Blacksburg for our youngest daughter’s “Stethoscope Ceremony” as she begins her dream of veterinary school, but after that respite, it’s gonna be Draft Prep 24/7 as we tick down the days to August 30th. Next week may also be my annual blunder of trying to predict the NFL season.

Can’t wait!
The Commish
