There have been some pretty dominating teams in the vaunted history of the SPFL, but I’m not sure we’ve ever had the level of superiority that the Piranha Brothers are demonstrating in 2023. Not only are they 9-0, they’re AVERAGING 166 points per game. I thought maybe CMac’s bye week might be a chink in…
Newsworthy League Week
We had a newsworthy week in the SPFL since I last wrote to you all. Let’s look back… Yahoo’s AI was on to something … the Ghost of Megatron erased that ugly “0” in the win column … and put the first “L” in the loss column for the Bright 1s in the process. And…
Halfway Home
Yes, it’s hard to believe, but the SPFL regular season is officially half over. Good grief, where does time go? Most of it goes from 8am to 5pm, weekdays. Other than that, it dissipates like a vapor. At least from my side of the world. Anyhoo … the SPFL is looking like a potful of…
Is It a Two Horse Race?
I was a little dramatic last week, so I’ll take the pressure off the gas pedal a little this week and focus on the state of the SPFL. And right now, I’ve gotta say, it’s sorta looking like a two team race at this point? Wouldn’t you agree? Perennial contender, the Bright 1s, still sport…
Week Five
One of the fantasy football guys I follow (and use lots of his memes and his ideas for this blog) closed his post this week asking everyone to stop and take perspective. And not in an accusatory way or one meant to elicit guilt, but just in a way to take stock of how fortunate…
Week Four Recap
Much like the NFL, things are starting to take on a little shape in the SPFL as well. But remember, as a wise man named Blutarsky once told us, “was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell, no!” And no one is out of it just yet in the SPFL either! Keep pounding…
Week Three
My apologies for no blog update last week. It was my first week back at work after an extended absence for some surgery and I spent the first half of the week in a fetal position in my office, simply crying and the last half of the week trying to catch up. (And as an…
Week One – OVER the Top
Week One of the NFL/SPFL Season = we all go over. Over: analyze. Over: react. Over: eat. You name it, our preparations and our reactions to week one are usually a little too fevered. As the Achilles’ stricken A-Rod himself once said after these early season melodramatics … “R – E – L – A…
Draft Recap and NFL Predictions
Many thanks to everyone for participating, trying to participate, or letting the stellar Yahoo AI autodraft you to SPFL glory in 2023. I’m sure most of you have already checked your Yahoo “grade” after the draft and for the first time in recent memory, the Greased Lightning crew did not find itself near the top…
Lots of Updates!
Lots of news to share from the league offices, so let’s get to it… The Commish
