WE MADE IT 🙌 pic.twitter.com/mIGSAOg8dW — Sports Illustrated (@SInow) September 10, 2023 Well, as a Cowboys fan, the cheese is laying there. All melty and gooey and scrumptious looking. Reminds me of a plate of lasagna at Roma’s. The Big Tuna is in my head saying, “Don’t. Don’t you do it. Don’t you eat it…”…
Predictions
Thanks to everyone for another fun SPFL draft! I’m a little nervous, though, I’m not a big fan of the Yahoo experts giving me an A grade and giving the Lightning a low grade. It just seems … off. While I feel pretty good about my team overall, I’m a little nervous that I fell…
SPFL Draft 2024
Just a quick reminder that our draft is mere days away! (Sunday at 2:00pm. Please make sure beforehand that you have Internet and a laptop or whatever you need. This crowd will have no sympathy on you!) I have not heard that any teams are not interested in participating this year, so I must…
Is This What I Think It Is?
While this is probably the most boring blog post I have every year, it is the one that is most exciting, at least to me. The dawn of the 2024 SPFL is approaching! As it is apt to do, life has kept on flowing by since we last visited. I’ve loved. I’ve lost. I’ve lamented….
A New Champion is Crowned
History was made last weekend in the vaunted SPFL, as Ryan’s Yesterday’s Corn franchise moved into solo second place on the all time titles list, picking up their third Farley Trophy. It was a weird, challenging year in the SPFL (and my life as a whole, but I won’t chase that rabbit today). The Corn…
Championship Week
I can hardly believe it. It’s SPFL Super Bowl Week. But before I get to that, a quick personal update. First of all, thanks for the understanding in allowing me to skip a couple of blog posts, even during the most important time of the fantasy season. As some/most of you probably know by now,…
Down to the Wire
With one week remaining in the SPFL regular season, four playoff spots are filled and two are still in play. The Piranha Brothers welcomed a relief valve for the building pressure of the perfect regular season. And college football showed that there is definitely one thing the NFL does better than they do … advancing…
Heavyweight Bouts
Week Twelve in the SPFL was almost a full slate of outstanding team scores and down to the wire slugfests as the postseason picture becomes ever more clear. The Piranha Brothers (12-0) have clinched the Tommy Boy title, the overall #1 seed and are only two games away from the first perfect season in SPFL…
First Two Clinch
I’m posting a little early this week as I hope to be neck deep in pumpkin pie come Thursday afternoon. We have our first two asterisks in the divisional standings as the Piranha Brothers (11-0) and the Bright 1s (9-2) both clinched a playoff spot. The Brothers went so far as to wrap up the…
Jinx
The SI Cover Jinx. The Madden Cover Jinx. The announcer jinxing the place kicker. Henry Bennett. (Any Andy Griffith Show fans in the house besides me?) I nearly joined some select company in almost jinxing the Piranha Brothers last weekend. My apologies to an old friend. I didn’t mean it! Whew, the Brothers dodged a…
