Well, sometimes things go as expected … and sometimes they don’t! At all! Our 2025 SPFL Final Four saw one mammoth upset, and in rip roaring fashion I might add, and another was a heavyweight battle until late Monday night. This will be an abbreviated blog post since it’s Christmas Eve and I need to…
Wild Card Round 2025
It’s that weird end of the week before Christmas in the SPFL Home offices and on campus. Nobody knows what day it is. Calendars are getting filled up for … “next year” … productivity is in the eye of the beholder. Email replies are “let’s circle back to that in January”. Mentally checked out, physically…
Regular Season Wrapup
As I said last week, Mrs. Commish and I were out of town for the weekend. My football watching was limited to what my bad eyes could see on an iPad as our room at the inn where we were staying was not adorned with a television. So, on Thursday night, on a 9″ screen,…
Week 13.25
Hey folks. My apologies for no article last week. I really planned to put one out on Wednesday, but we ended up babysitting all four grands (7 years of age and under) and I didn’t have the energy or the brain capacity afterwards to tackle it. And the two oldest made it a sleepover, so…
Week 11.25
I’ve gotta jump right into the SPFL this week because this year is shaping up to be a very unique season. With three games left in the regular season, we SEEM to have two team races in each division for that precious week one bye in the playoffs, which also SEEMS to have the two…
Week 10.25
Okay, so it seems to me that the SPFL is shaping up to be a four team race for the big kahuna … with a couple of potential spoilers meandering around the standings, such as Heath’s Heroes, the Piranha Brothers, and, winners of two of their last three games — the Mighty Moops of Mayberry!!!…
Week 9.25
First of all, thanks to everyone for the texts of condolences and welfare checks on Ye Old Commish after Game 7. I’ve almost recovered. I’m kidding. No one checked on me. My own brother simply texted me mid-week and asked why I was now listed as the owner of Beauty and the Beasts. I’ll take…
Week 8.25
We’re back baby! The Moops took advantage of the NFL’s Bye-Mageddon to finally get off the schneid and pick up their first win. Buckle up, the sky’s the limit now… And if that’s not enough for Ye Old Commish, my beloved Blue Jays have done themselves proud so far in the Fall Classic. I’m not…
A True Fan
Tab 3 Tab 1 I’ll warn you at the outset, this one is lengthy. Skip it if you want, but I just had to write it. I feel like I’ve got a lot to get out of my head after skipping last week. (Nothing up last week, just one of those annoying weeks at…
Week 5.25
Week 5 delivered everything we’ve come to expect in the SPFL — heartbreak, heroics, and a dash of comedy at the Mayberry Moops’ expense. Yesterday’s Corn (4-1) is showing signs of complete domination so far, holding the lead down in the Matt Foley Division after a convincing beatdown last weekend of another tough team, while…
